Through Her Eyes: The Struggle for Food Sovereignty - A Presentation

through her eyes 2The 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW61), took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 13 – 24 March, 2017. The Commission is one of the largest annual gathering of global leaders, NGOs, private sector actors, United Nations partners and activists from around the world focusing on the status of rights and empowerment of all women and girls, everywhere.

WhyHunger was invited by the Women’s UN Report Network (WUNRN) to make a presentation to participants – public officials and member of civil society -- from around the world attending the CSW61. The theme of the panel was “Women, Food Security, Political Will and Public Will to End Hunger.” Our Senior Director of Programs, Alison Cohen, in her presentation entitled “Through Her Eyes: The Struggle for Food Sovereignty,” focused on women’s organizing efforts towards food sovereignty in the U.S. and globally, centering women whose lived experiences are at the center of the struggle.
