For Summer Food State Agencies

Learn how to register summer feeding sites in the WhyHunger database. This page is best viewed using Fire Fox or IE 10 and above.

WhyHunger partners with USDA FNS to ensure that more children and their families have access to free, nutritious food during the summer months by promoting the Summer Food Service Program through the National Hunger Hotline (1-866-3 HUNGRY) and our online database.

We are in the process of collecting site information for this summer and want to ensure that we are able to provide the most up-to-date information. Once sponsors and sites are approved, we ask that State agencies and SFSP sponsors register their lists of open summer feeding sites with us. Once a site is registered, it’s accessible to thousands of Hotline callers, users of Share Our Strength’s summer texting campaign and online visitors looking to find summer meals for their children.

To register open summer feeding sites:

1. Download the template Microsoft Excel file.

2. Fill out the template. Include the name and status of each feeding site, address (including 5-digit zip code), phone number, contact name, operating times (including days, hours and dates) and sponsor organization for each entry.

3. Email the file to [email protected]. The Hotline staff will upload your list to the database.

4. To view feeding sites in your state, paste the following link into your browser, and replace “AL” with your state abbreviation (capital letters only): //networks.whyhunger.org/sfs/?state=AL

If you have questions about the Hotline or need help registering, please email [email protected] or call the Hotline at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479).

Spread the word! You can find SFSP outreach materials, including posters, web banners and PSAs at www.whyhunger.org/outreach.

Lastly, we know that many sponsors and sites look for volunteers to help support their SFSP programs. We encourage Summer Food Service Program Sponsors and Sites to post their volunteer opportunities at www.serve.gov/endhunger.asp.

Thank you for the work that you do each summer to feed hungry kids!
