After the Floods, WISE Helped Families Survive
Pakistan – Women in Struggle for Empowerment (WISE)
When destructive floods displaced families across Pakistan, WISE mobilized to provide urgent support. Rapid Response support from WhyHunger helped deliver:
- 8 medical camps that treated 1,060 people
- 2,000 personal hygiene & dignity kits
- 200 school bags for displaced children
- 160 food packages 100 warm shawls
When Climate Disrupted Farms, MAC Helped Communities Recover
Mississippi, U.S. – Mississippi Association of Cooperatives (MAC)
When severe storms, drought, and extreme weather disrupted farms and rural communities across Mississippi, the Mississippi Association of Cooperatives mobilized to support farmers and strengthen local food systems. Rapid Response support from WhyHunger helped:
- Deliver essential materials, including soil and transplants, to impacted farmers
- Coordinate emergency response efforts across rural communities
- Provide climate resilience training for farmers and ranchers
- Strengthen local cooperatives and food systems for long-term recovery
When the Wells Ran Dry, KRD Was Ready
Somalia – Kaalmo Relief and Development (KRD)
When drought threatened food and water access across Somalia, KRD was already working alongside communities to respond. Rapid Response support from WhyHunger helped provide immediate relief while strengthening long-term recovery, including:
- Clean water and food access to more than 3,000 people across 5 villages
- Critical household supplies, including blankets, mosquito nets, and cooking tools, to 921 people
- Rapid medical intervention to reduce disease risk and improve health and well-being
After Hurricane Maria, Organización Boricuá Helped Farms Recover
Puerto Rico – Organización Boricuá
When Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, Organización Boricuá had already spent nearly three decades helping farmers build resilient agroecological food systems. Rapid Response support from WhyHunger helped local communities recover by providing:
- Food and water for families in the immediate aftermath
- Construction materials to rebuild farms and community infrastructure
- Seeds, tools, and other essential supplies to restore food production
- $47,000 in direct support, helping farmers recover more quickly and reduce production delays
