School Profile

Panama

About the School

The Kuna Youth Movement (MJK) is an Indigenous organization active in Panama dedicated to promoting food sovereignty, territorial justice, and human rights, working alongside the current generation and women producers to strengthen the autonomy of the Kuna nation.

The Agroecology School aims to:

  • Establish an Agroecology School in the remote forest landscapes of Kuna Yala.
  • Foster a deep connection with traditional agroecological knowledge through Guna agricultural practices, real-world perspectives, and science.
  • Elevate the local and national struggles and opportunities of the Kuna people.

Whyhunger supported Kuna Youth Movement in strengthening the agroecological agenda in the landscapes of the Gunayala Forest, establishing an agroecological school that promotes sustainable agricultural practices for food sovereignty in dialogue with science.
