WhyHunger has a long history of working with artists and that relationship stems from our founder, the late Harry Chapin. Cotton Patch Gospel, a musical written by Tom Key and Russell Treyz, brings this relationship full circle as the music and lyrics for the show were written by Harry in 1981. The story focuses on the life of Jesus set in modern day Georgia. This musical, usually performed as a one man show with a bluegrass quartet, has been touring the country with Phil Kaufmann as the lead. As the production tours the country, a portion of proceeds are being donated to WhyHunger. We are honored to keep Harry’s legacy alive through yet another musical avenue.
