POR QUE EL HAMBRE? Es una pregunta muy importante en este mundo donde hay tanto recursos, tantos alimentos en vertedero sin embargo más de 2 mil millones de personas carecen de alimentos, sufren de hambre. Mucha gente muere de hambre cada día en el planeta. Es algo injusto en un mundo lleno de riquezas.
Consciente de esta situación, hay grupos que deciden de luchar contra este pecado social. Whyhunger hace parte de estos grupos que se preguntan, investigan, buscan caminos, trabajan para eliminar este desastre.
En Haití, hoy, se puede hablar muy abiertamente de hambre como un desastre nacional. Se habla oficialmente de más 5 millones de personas que no pueden alimentarse sobre 12 millones habitantes que tiene el país. En realidad, podemos hablar de más de 8 millones haitianos que no pueden comer en este momento.
Mientras 5 anos Haití conoce un crecimiento económico bajo cero y un aumento de la población de mas 150 000 bocas al ano. Hoy producimos menos de 40% de nuestros alimentos. El desorden climático esta golpeando muy fuertemente. Cuando no hay sequias, hay inundaciones. Frente a esta situación, hay organizaciones campesinas que luchan para la soberanía alimentaria promoviendo la agroecología campesina, la refección y la protección del medio ambiente.
WhyHunger está asociado a la lucha de muchas organizaciones campesinas en la producción de alimentos sanos con métodos agroecológicos. WhyHunger está apoyando a asociaciones de campesinos que trabajan en agroecología con sistema de riego, en la reforestación. WhyHunger es muy solidario con organizaciones de base en situación de emergencia. La última intervención fue en 2023 después de una serie de inundaciones en 6 departamentos ayudando a las victimas de empezar de nuevo a producir.
Whyhunger es un verdadero socio que esta en contacto permanente con sus socios para saber lo que esta pasando y como puede ayudar cuando hay problema. El Parternership de Whyhunger con organizaciones campesinas en Haiti es algo solido especialmente con el MPP. Con organizaciones como Whyhunger, se puede acabar el hambre en el planeta. Adelante !

Translation: WHY IS THERE HUNGER?
It is a very important question in this world where there are so many resources, so much food in landfills, yet more than 2 billion people lack food, suffer from hunger. Many people die of hunger every day on the planet. It is unfair in a world full of wealth.
Aware of this situation, there are groups that decide to fight against this social sin. WhyHunger is part of these groups that wonder, investigate, look for ways, work to eliminate this disaster.
In Haiti, today, one can speak very openly about hunger as a national disaster. There is official talk of more than 5 million people who cannot feed themselves out of the country’s 12 million inhabitants. In reality, we can speak of more than 8 million Haitians who cannot eat at the moment.
For 5 years, Haiti has known an economic growth below zero and an increase of the population of more than 150,000 mouths per year. Today, we produce less than 40% of our food. Climate disruption is hitting us very hard. When there are no droughts, there are floods. Faced with this situation, there are peasant organizations that fight for food sovereignty by promoting peasant agroecology, reforestation and environmental protection.
WhyHunger is connected with the struggle of many peasant and farmer movements in the production of healthy food with agroecological methods. WhyHunger is supporting farmer associations working in agroecology with irrigation systems and in reforestation. WhyHunger is very supportive of grassroots organizations in emergency situations. The last intervention in 2023 after a series of floods in 6 departments was able to help farmers impacted to start producing again.
WhyHunger is a true partner who is in constant contact with its partners to know what is happening and how it can help when there is a problem. WhyHunger’s partnership with farmers’ movements in Haiti is solid, especially with the MPP. With organizations like WhyHunger, we can end hunger on the planet. Onwards!

Standing in solidarity with Haiti, we have activated our Rapid Response fund to support Haitian-led organizations Peasant Movement of Papaye (MPP) and Heads Together Small Peasant Movement (Tet Kole), who are currently mobilizing massive mutual aid efforts to respond to the urgent crisis as well as work towards longer-term support needed to fully recover.
