Lennon App Wins Interactive Award

WhyHunger is excited to announce that our John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes app was named a 2015 Interactive Annual Award Winner by Communication Arts magazine! Showcased in the magazine’s March/April issue and online, The Bermuda Tapes was selected as one of 39 winners out of 1,137 submissions to this juried competition that recognizes the finest talent in the industry. The Lennon App was chosen for its interactivity, interesting animation, sound design and compelling storyline. Five leading interactive media professionals judged the competition and described the app as “touching and timeless musical magic,” and a “feel good” app that “was hard to put down.”

“The core is the approach to storytelling…taking advantage of capabilities only found on the iPad and iPhone…users can forge a more intimate engagement with John’s story.”- Mark Thompson, App Co-Director “The core is the approach to storytelling…taking advantage of capabilities only found on the iPad and iPhone…users can forge a more intimate engagement with John’s story.”- Mark Thompson, App Co-Director

The John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes app features intimate demo tapes and never-before-seen photos of John Lennon during his time in Bermuda and is available for $4.99 on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch at www.AppStore.com/LennonApp. The app includes photographs, demo tapes and other content -graciously donated by Yoko Ono Lennon – that was recorded during his life-changing journey sailing to Bermuda. All proceeds from sales benefit WhyHunger and its Imagine There’s No Hunger campaign with Yoko Ono Lennon and Hard Rock International to fight childhood hunger and poverty.

The John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes app was also a finalist for both a Future of Storytelling (FOST) prize, which is awarded to the storytelling apps that are the most innovative and well-designed, and a SXSW Interactive Award.

Thank you for the honor, Communication Arts!
