Food First | The Institute for Food and Development Policy
The mission of the Institute for Food and Development Policy, better known as Food First, is to end the injustices that cause hunger. Founded in 1975 by Joseph Collins and Frances Moore Lappé—author of the revolutionary bestseller Diet for a Small Planet—Food First envisions a world in which all people have access to healthy, ecologically produced and culturally appropriate food. Food First supports activists, social movements, alliances and coalitions working for systemic change.
Small Planet Institute
The Small Planet Institute seeks to identify the core, often unspoken, assumptions and forces — economic, political, and psychological — now taking the planet in a direction that as individuals none of us would choose, and disseminates this deeper understanding of root causes. The Small Planet Institute helps citizens choose rewarding ways to focus their energies by finding entry points that interrupt and reverse the negative pattern of powerlessness and despair; and then generate a new, more life-serving spiral of hope in action.
Oxfam International
Oxfam is an international confederation of 17 organizations working together with partners and local communities in more than 90 countries. Around the globe, Oxfam works to find practical, innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive. They also campaign so that the voices of the poor influence the local and global decisions that affect them. Oxfam works with partner organizations and alongside vulnerable women and men to end the injustices that cause poverty.
La Via Campesina
La Via Campesina is the international movement that brings together millions of peasants, small and medium-size farmers, landless people, women farmers, indigenous people, migrants and agricultural workers from around the world. It defends small-scale sustainable agriculture as a way to promote social justice and dignity. It strongly opposes corporate driven agriculture and transnational companies that are destroying people and nature.
Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy
IATP works locally and globally at the intersection of policy and practice to ensure fair and sustainable food, farm and trade systems.
Grassroots International
Grassroots International works around the world to help small farmers and other small producers, indigenous peoples and women win resource rights: the human rights to land, water and food.
