Crisis and Relief Response Support for Ukraine

At WhyHunger, we believe hunger is solvable and nutritious food is everyone’s human right. As the citizens of Ukraine face crisis amidst the current conflicts, we at WhyHunger want to share a list of supportive resources compiled by our allies at Edge Funders Alliance in response to the growing needs around hunger, security, health and more in the country. We’ve highlighted a few below and the full list can be found here.

GlobalGiving, a US-registered public charity grantmaker, has launched a Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund. GlobalGiving has been responding to disasters and humanitarian crises since 2004. All donations to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund will support humanitarian assistance in impacted communities in Ukraine and surrounding regions where Ukrainian refugees have fled. GlobalGiving’s local, vetted partners are on the front lines of response in Ukraine and in neighboring countries, like Poland, that are welcoming large numbers of Ukrainian refugees.

Caritas Ukraine, People in Need Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Red Cross Society are working hard to provide food, shelter and medical assistance directly to vulnerable individuals and communities across Ukraine. The King Baudouin Foundation, a NEID (Network of Engaged International Donors) member, has established a fund to help support emergency relief for the people of Ukraine by pooling contributions to these 3 organizations.

Choose Love, another NEID affiliate through the Global Whole Being Fund, has just established a fund to support grassroots efforts that are providing vital aid and services to those still in and fleeing the country, including: emergency medical care, food, shelter, clothes, legal support, support for the LGBTQIA+ community and mental health support.
